Carnarvon Gorge National Park
Carnarvon Gorge, in Queensland’s Carnarvon National Park, is a spectacular sandstone canyon in the Central Highlands, about 600 km northwest of Brisbane. Carnarvon Creek has carved cliffs up to 200 metres high, while cool side gorges shelter ferns, palms and ancient cycads. Walking tracks lead to the Moss Garden, Amphitheatre and Ward’s Canyon, and the Art Gallery holds thousands of Aboriginal engravings and stencils of deep cultural significance. Camping and nearby lodges make it an ideal base for exploring.
