A cute little town with a big history. It is along the rail trail cycling track which winds around Ficks Crossing. The area is surrounded by cattle grazing land and grain growing farms.
What it offers?
There are two Dingo sculptures at the roundabout as you drive through town; Wondai is the aboriginal name to describe the dingo.
In the park behind the dingo you will find an Emu sculpture which is a memorial of Charlotte the Emu who was a regular in the town and there is a plaque next to the sculpture telling her story.
There is a Timber Museum and a Heritage Museum and the usual food, drink, camping and accommodation.
Heading north as you enter town, if you go straight ahead at the roundabout, that is where you will find the free camp area.
Wheelchair Access?
May require assistance.
What we did?
We visited the sculptures and the old rail station at the above-mentioned park. We walked through the Heritage Museum and then the Timber Industry Museum grabbing some local brochures from the information centre.
