Things to do Exploring Australia

Location

MURGON

What it is?

A decent sized country town in the middle of a diverse farming area. NE of Murgon is the wine growing region and local wineries. NE is the Bjelke Petersen (BP) Dam and west is the Boondoomba Dam. If you want to swim, go to BP Dam, if you want to jet ski, go to Boondoomba (personal opinion). Cherbourg is the local indigenous community which is just out of town.

What it offers?

Camping, accommodation, food, groceries, hardware,

Ficks Crossing;

The Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum;

55 Millions Years Ago;

Boat Mountain Conservation Park.

What we did?

Boat Mountain Conservation Park – Daniels Lookout is 2.6kms return and the view at the lookout is totally worth the hike – a 270 degree view. Once you get to the top at Braithwaite’s Lookout, the walk out to Daniels Lookout is easy. The 55 Million Years Ago a fossil museum and fine art gallery; the Queensland Dairy Museum; Ficks crossing (you can swim in the creek here)
