There are lots of small farm stays in the region, this is but one example:
They grow Capers and Peanuts. It is a working farm that you can camp on. The Caper season is September to March.
What it offers?
Overnight camping (self-sufficient), they have cows, llama and a cute dog, a communal fire pit, and they offer a farm tour and a shop where they sell their products.
Wheelchair Access?
May require assistance.
Please contact the owners/mangers for details.
What we did?
We wanted to stay here, but time and weather did not permit. Apparently on a clear day you can see Kingaroy, Bunya Mountains and the Coopers Gap Wind Farm.
Highlight?
Learning all about capers. The only time i have seen a caper is in a deli or a bottle.
Would I do it again?
We wanted to spend the weekend here, but weather and time did not allow. It is on a list of place to return to.
Another place i viewed but we didn’t stay is accommodation, not camping: Dreambird Cottage. It is just outside of Maidenwell and is a beautiful house with a bathtub that looks out into the mountains and a hot tub outside for that romantic weekend away! If you want to check out this accommodation please see the website HERE.
