The region\u2019s early volcanic activity has also given rise to rich deposits of marble and minerals. This is also where you book the cave tours.\u00a0<\/p><p>Be sure to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aussiebushwalking.com\/qld\/north-qld\/balancing-rock\">balancing rock<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>There is a swimming hole\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.athertontablelands.com.au\/travel-directory\/chillagoe-weir\/\">weir<\/a>\u00a0for those hot afternoons.<\/p><p>Check out the Mungana Rock Art experience. I&#8217;m glad we chose to explore all three. Additionally, we visited the Mungana Rock Art site and the Archways, both captivating.<\/p><p>We also walked along the loop trail leading to the iconic Balancing Rock, which was the highlight of the day.<\/p><p>Given the heat, we decided to visit the local swimming hole and weir. Although it hadn\u2019t rained recently, and the water wasn\u2019t particularly good, we took the plunge to cool off\u2014and it was worth it.<\/p><p>For lunch, we had a fairly average burger at one of the local establishments.<\/p><p>In the evening, we prepared our dinner and headed to the smelter to watch the sunset.
